Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is KLX moving its headquarters?

    • In a word: growth. We recognize the need to support our continued growth and yours. Currently, our Miami-based global headquarters operates out of 3 adjacent facilities, and we are operating at full capacity. Our new 550,000 square foot custom-built office and distribution center provides us with the capacity that we need to best support your business, with room to expand over the next 5-10 years. Further, our new Warehouse Management System will provide improved service and efficiencies through automation and through combined inventory within a single warehouse location.
  • Will the KLX cage code change?

    • No change to cage code.
  • What is the inventory transfer plan for programs, including the lock down of parts as we transfer parts from the current to the new warehouse?

    • We will be moving the inventory in a phased process and as expeditiously as possible without comprising efficiency and accuracy to ensure no service disruptions.
    • All inventory moves will be conducted after business hours to be ready to be processed daily as needed.
    • The inventory availability for programs will remain the same as today.
  • What are your ERP & system plans during this move?

    • There will be no changes to our ERP system (Cardex).
    • KLX will implement a warehouse automation and Warehouse Management System (WMS) in our new headquarters that is initially being rolled out at our Phoenix location (already in progress).
  • Will KLX be asking CUSTOMERS for any specific support related to this move?

    • For many customers, we will need new approvals for the new headquarters. KLX will need assistance to align our supplier code to historical data (i.e., FAIs, sales history, QMS approval, etc.).
    • Having our customers support during this transition in order to invest in our mutual growth will occasionally require multiple shipments from multiple sites. Additionally, during the inventory transition period, multiple line orders could potentially ship from both locations.
    • Should a site visit be deemed necessary to fulfill your quality requirements, they will be arranged once the move has been completed.
  • Will KLX be asking SUPPLIERS for any specific support related to this move?

    • Suppliers need only to ensure that the P.O. addresses are changed in a timely manner when the time comes to move our in-coming process from the legacy site to the new headquarters. All suppliers will be communicated with in advance to ensure compliance here.
    • Should a site visit be deemed necessary to fulfill your quality requirements, they will be arranged once the move has been completed.
  • Will KLX’s personnel/headcount requirements be impacted by the move?

    • No. There will be no changes in how we structure the workforce or the size of our workforce as a result of this move. We do anticipate an increase in efficiency in all areas, leading to improved throughput. With this additional capacity and our projected business growth, we anticipate an increase in our workforce globally over the next 2-3 years.
  • What is your employee retention and recovery plan for any change of personnel resulting from the move?

    • Fortunately, there is expected to be minimal impact to employee retention as a result of our move, as the new location is within 10 miles of our current campus. Our research prior to the location selection indicated that the majority of our office-based employees live closer to the new location than KLX’s current location.
    • We do anticipate some turnover amongst our warehouse-based employees. We will be increasing the warehouse employee population prior to our move to ensure there is no service disruption.
    • Additionally, we will be adding a temporary work force to assist with the building and inventory move.

We will continue to update this page as the build-out progresses. In the interim, should you have any questions, please contact our Sr. Director of Global Quality, Jason Lewis at +1.305.499.7971.
